Finding Cures - Saving Lives
Founded in 1995, The Millennium Foundation is one of the major fundraising bodies supporting medical research and health care facilities at the Westmead Hospital Campus. It supports two major institutions, the Westmead Millennium Institute and Westmead Hospital.
The Foundation receives no government funding, relying heavily on the generosity of the community and committed staff to raise funds to find the cures that will save lives.
The Westmead Millennium Institute (WMI) is one of the largest and most successful medical research institutes in Australia with more than 400 staff researching a wide range of health disorders affecting adults and children. The work of the Institute spans the entire research spectrum from initial discovery to the development and clinical trial of new treatments or a ‘bench to bedside’ methodology.
Westmead Hospital is the largest teaching hospital in the southern hemisphere providing a unique link between the laboratories of our research centres and the hospital’s ‘engine’ – its wards and clinics.
In the last six months the Foundation has dispersed over $1 million dollars to both the Hospital and the Institute to ensure their critical work continues. This included assisting the Hospital in the purchase of an Interventional Neuroradiology (INR), supporting medical researchers in their specialised fields of research, and many other initiatives.
The funding we provide facilitates the search and development of vital cures for the future as well as helping those who find themselves in hospital today.
Yet every miracle solution starts with a little faith and funding – with the support of individuals like you. All it takes is a few dollars today and we could have the cure tomorrow for some of the world’s most life-threatening diseases.
