Dr David van der Poorten
This article s the first to show that increasing amounts of visceral fat (the fat around internal organs) is the strongest risk for developing non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), the worst form of fatty liver disease. This has significant implications and suggests from now on doctors should assess visceral fat levels in all patients with fatty liver disease to better identify those that need a liver biopsy and intensive treatment.
